Safe & Strong Together Grants:

New Program Funds Security-related Capital Improvements for Local Jewish Organizations

SAFEGUARDING OUR COMMUNITY

The new grants program has provided up to $50,000 for security-related capital improvements to 14 local Jewish day and supplemental religious schools, and other youth-serving agencies and synagogues. The enhancements are strengthening facilities responsibly while preserving the warmth and openness that define our community.

SUPPORTING JEWISH VITALITY

The Foundation wants to ensure our community can learn, worship, and celebrate Jewish life in safe and welcoming spaces across Greater Hartford — now and for generations to come. The Safe & Strong Together Grants initiative supports this ongoing commitment.

Generous Donors Help Keep Our Community Safe

This program is funded through the Foundation and its generous donors who established Unrestricted Funds to address evolving community needs. These funds allow the Foundation to respond where resources are needed most—strengthening safety, security, and resilience across our community.

Expanding Our Investment, Together

In addition to its $1 million commitment, the Foundation has invested nearly $150,000 to maximize the Jewish Federation’s security grant match, and an additional $150,000 for security across the community.

Building on Existing Resources
We built this program by leveraging existing resources and frameworks, including programs already in place at agencies and synagogues, and the Jewish Federation’s community-wide security initiative.

“Since installing the security gate, we have significantly reduced unauthorized vehicular traffic and gained much greater control over who enters our grounds.” — Grant Recipient
