When Congregation Beth Israel (CBI) hosted a gathering for new members in 2020, it didn’t draw a lot of attendance. The following year, using a Foundation grant, CBI revamped the event into a festive celebration featuring face painting, games, a barbeque and musical entertainment outside the temple. The party has grown into an annual signature event called Celebrate CBI, which draws approximately 200 attendees including new and prospective members, neighbors and police officers.

“The event strengthens our community through meaningful connections,” said Rabbi Pincus. “We’ve gained between ten to fifteen new families each year after they attend Celebrate CBI and congregant contributions for the event now make this annual celebration possible,” he continued. “We are thankful to the Foundation for providing grants to expand our activities and for helping us grow our endowment.”
