Feeding the Hungry:

Table to Table

Poverty in Israel is a growing concern, with 28% of Israeli citizens living below the poverty line.  Every day children and families go to bed hungry. Table to Table picks up fresh, wholesome food that otherwise would be discarded, and delivers it safely to soup kitchens, homeless shelters and centers that serve meals to its hungry neighbors.  Table to Table

 

Kibbutz Model for Vulnerable Israeli Citizens

$3,000

An integrated community whose members live with physical, mental, emotional and/or learning challenges, Kishorit is home to 140 people who are building fulfilling lives together.  Educational, cultural and recreational activities abound and gainful employment is recognized as a vital part of life.  Residents can live at Kishorit over the course of their lifetimes.  American Friends of Kishorit Fund

 

Social Needs Project

$3,000

The program provides vouchers for school items for students-in-need in the Kadoorie Youth Village and School in the Afula/Giloba region one of the many schools participating in the Kadima Mada Science Journey program. Students, whose families cannot afford items like textbooks, calculators or school uniforms, can discreetly exchange the vouchers for things he/she needs the most to focus on their studies.  World ORT

 

Smart Class

$2,000

World ORT’s flagship program in Israel, Smart Class, aims to fill in the gap between Israel’s hi-tech society and the current educational system.  It introduces state-of-the-art interactive educational technology in Israel’s schools in the periphery.   World ORT seeks to develop and deliver learning materials for teachers in the use of interactive educational technology.  World ORT

 

Kav Or/Ray of Light

$1,000

Kav Or is an after-school education program for sick students in Israel hospitals.  As part of the program, Kav Or works with children in oncology units who are unable to access the regular educational facilities.  Among other things, young patients receive scientific educational kits to keep them occupied and entertained while staying in bed for long periods of time.  World ORT
