Q. I am updating my will and want to create an endowment fund at the Foundation. What is its legal name?

A. The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford, Inc.

Q. My attorney has suggested that I establish a Charitable Remainder Trust. Does the Jewish Community Foundation have these trusts? Does it serve as Trustee? How much does it cost?

A. The Foundation will, at no cost, provide a draft Charitable Remainder Trust agreement for you and your tax advisor to review. At present, the Foundation does not charge a fee for serving as trustee. However, any accounting, custodial, investment management or related fees associated with the administration of the trust will be charged against the trust assets.

Q. I have seen advertisements for Charitable Gift Annuities in the newspaper and my college alumni magazine. Can I set one up through the Foundation for a Jewish agency?

A. Yes, the Foundation will enter into a gift annuity arrangement on behalf of certain local Jewish institutions, provided that any portion of the gift remaining at the death of the income beneficiary is held in a permanent endowment fund at the Foundation for the benefit of that organization.
