There are many people in Connecticut asking the unthinkable today. There are families still without power or without a home in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. There are other families waking to the nightmare of tiny empty beds that will never again hold a peaceful, sleeping child. To those who have lost everything due to the storm and to my friends and former colleagues at the United Way of Western Connecticut who live in and serve the residents of Newtown’s shattered community, I have no answers. I have no advice to offer. What comfort can I give when I cannot, myself, understand these events nor truly understand the depth of your unfathomable loss? There can be no sorrow deep enough.
